Hey everyone :)

3 min read
I'm writing this journal entry just to try out the From Dust skin. It looks really cool. Not much else, haven't been feeling motivated for art for over a year.

Take good care of yourselves, toodles :)

School ended today, and I have a full 3.5 months of sunny summer holiday to bask and do nothing in.

I haven't posted anything on deviantArt for a long time. In fact, it's been 11 months since I posted my last deviation. That was summer last year, I hope I can get a good piece going for the summer of this year :)

I haven't been motivated to draw anything for a long time. I want to, but just don't bother with it. So I thought I'd help myself by trying the 30 Day Drawing Challenge. It might be a good way to force myself to draw something finally.

Here are the subjects for the 30DDC:

Day 1: Draw a self-portrait in a mirror, don't take a picture of yourself, don't use photobooth. A mirror.

Day 2: Make up a character for a non-existent video game. No fan-art.

Day 3: Draw an insect, either real or made up.

Day 4: Draw a still frame from your favorite movie.

Day 5: Invent and draw a badass warrior woman. (amazon, cyber-punk, whatever)

Day 6: Draw a picture of your favorite building in your city from life, actually go there, sit down and draw it.

Day 7: Create and draw a mad scientist.

Day 8: Draw a pirate.

Day 9: Draw a time machine.

Day 10: Draw a portrait of your favorite author or artist.

Day 11: Draw a vehicle of your choice.

Day 12: Draw a soldier using historical reference (WWII, Vietnam, Civil War, etc.)

Day 13: Make up a monster or alien that could take on Godzilla.

Day 14: Using no reference draw your favorite TV show character from memory.

Day 15: Pick your favorite book and flip to page 100- illustrate that page.

Day 16: Draw the interior of a room from life.

Day 17: Draw an imaginary landscape.

Day 18: Make up and draw a secret agent or spy.

Day 19: Draw your favorite historical figure.

Day 20: Draw a robot.

Day 21: Go sit in a public place and draw a minimum of 5 people, full body.

Day 22: Draw what you have for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 23: Draw two characters in a fistfight.

Day 24: Draw a spaceship.

Day 25: Re-design the costume of your favorite superhero or supervillain.

Day 26: Go sit in a public place and draw a minimum of 5 people, caricatures.

Day 27: Draw a sci-fi hero or heroine of your creation.

Day 28: Draw your interpretation of your favorite illustration or painting.

Day 29: Draw a character based on your favorite color using no colors.

Day 30: Draw a picture of your favorite fairytale or myth.

So thats it for now. toodles.

I have been here for over 3 years, and have done nothing worth noting. I have received one DD, but that seems very unimportant when yesterday I saw a person get a Deviousness award. And she has only been here for 2 years!!! I feel like such a failure! It's cause I am so un-motivated when it comes to art! I seem to have a permanent artists block! Someone help me.

Many thanks to :iconcottoncritter: for giving me a 3 month subscription. It was dA's birthday, but I got a present anyways :D

Since she is such an awesome person, you should go to her page and say hi!

Also, here are some of her pics I really liked. Go check them out!

I also promised I would draw her a wolf, and maybe even a skunk :D

This brings me to my other point. If you guys have an idea about a picture but just can't draw it, note me about it and I'd be more than happy to draw it. Just like any other artists, I run out of ideas, and usually need others to give me a fresh batch :D

If you note me about a request, I might not be able to upload anything for a month, maybe even longer. And thats because I'm going on vacation to Trabzon! Trabzon is a beautiful city in Turkey, my home country. I can't wait to get back with my relatives after been so far away for so long. Also, everything is soo green, fresh and natural there! I love it!!

Also, Aug 11th is the start of Ramadan. If you're wondering what that is, please check out my news article on the subject!

EDIT  I decided to feature some photos of Trabzon, just because now I can, and I want you all to see how awesome it really is.

It's that time of the year again. Starting on Aug 11, 1.5 billion humans on earth will start fasting in the daytime for a whole lunar month.

What is fasting?:?

:bulletblue: Fasting is where you refrain from eating and drinking anything for a period of time. In Islam, that period of time is between the starting of dawn and sunset.:hungry:

Why do Muslims fast?

:bulletblue: It was decreed by Allah through the Qur'an:

:bulletgreen: "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you so that you can learn Taqwa" (Quran 2:183):bulletgreen:

Taqwa does not have a direct english translation, but it means all of these things at the same time: Piety, self-restraint and Consciousness-of-God :meditation:

:bulletblue: Muslims not only refrain from eating and drinking, they also refrain from smoking, sexual intercourse, thinking bad things :eyes:, swearing, and getting into arguments :censored: and disputes with their fellow brothers.:threaten:

Sounds lame, stupid and hard to do

:bulletblue: It's not! You get used to it from day one. Plus there are a LOT of benefits of fasting!

Benefits!?!? :la: Tell me more! :eager:

:bulletblue: Why yes, benefits:

:bulletred: Through fasting, a Muslim experiences hunger and thirst, and sympathizes with those in the world who have little to eat every day.

:bulletred: Through increased charity, Muslims develop feelings of generosity and good-will toward others. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said, "A man's wealth is never diminished by charity."

:bulletred: Through self-control, a Muslim practices good manners, good speech, and good habits.

:bulletred: By changing routines, Muslims have a chance to permanently establish a healthier lifestyle, especialy towards habits like smoking and weight problems.

:bulletred: Through family and community gatherings, Muslims strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, in their own communities and throughout the world.:strong:

:bulletblue: Fasting is alo very healthy for our bodies. Staying away from food helps us burn fat, and, as a result, get rid of the toxins condensed in our fat. Here is a great article about the health benfits of fasting, posted on WebMD.com
Is fasting healthy?

:bulletblue: Here are a couple more great articles you might want to read if you are interested:

+ Fasting and Health: Ramadan Fasting - Key to Good Health
+ The Health Benefits of Fasting
+ Reaping the Benefits of Ramadan
+ The Spiritual and Health Benefits of Ramadan Fasting

OMG! Sounds awesome! I wanna try! :excited:

:bulletblue: Go ahead! Most Islamic Community Centers usually host a fast-a-thon for non-muslim to try it out! The Community Center I went to usually had a big turn-out during Fast-A-Thon's! Go to any Islamic Community Center and the brothers and sisters will be more than happy to help you in anyway possible. I gurantee you will meet really great, kind, and fun-to-be-around people! Experiencing the love of tens to hundreds of people breaking their fast at the same, seated around the same tables is amazing! Its a great community event, and the food is really good too! Have you ever eaten middle-eastern food!? That stuffs amazing, you will love it!!

All-in-all, Ramadan is a great oppurunity that will really benefit your body, and your connection to your community and family!

I hope this article has cleared up any misconceptions you might have had about the holy month of Ramadan! If you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to ask me through the comments section :D

:bulletgreen: "Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong).." Qur'an 2:185 :bulletgreen:
